fine Photographs in fine Cooking

Hand Crafting Salumi in San Francisco

picture photograph fine cooking magazine 2007 copyright of sam breach http://becksposhnosh.blogspot.com/

A couple of moths ago I was approached by Fine Cooking Magazine who wanted to use a couple of photographs I'd taken for The Fatted Calf. I agreed and they used two of my photographs - you can see them in the bottom left: Antonio Jeronimo, one of The Fatted Calf's workers, stuffing a sausage and some salamis hanging to dry. The pictures, which are the first I've ever had published, are in the May issue.

PS - I apologize for having neglected the blog over the past few days. It's a combination of putting in extra time at work to meet a deadline, being rear-ended on the 101 (don't worry - I am fine), and not having enough hours in a day.

Congratulations Sam - I will be sure to pick up a copy of that issue when I see it on the stands. Sorry to hear you got rear ended, hope it wasn't too bad!

Sam, very cool about the photos! Fine Cooking is pretty quickly becoming my favorite food magazine. Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope you are ok.

    Awesome news about the photos!

I'm sorry to hear about the accident, I hope everything is okay.

    Awesome! Congrats!

Definitely glad you are ok. Getting rear-ended sucks. I drive a grey mini cooper in seattle, which apparently means I'm invisible... have been rear-ended in it twice. It shook me up quite a bit, even though everyone was fine. Hope it's not too much of a hassle getting everythng repaired.

Really cool about the photos. Quality magazine...quality pics.
Glad to know you are Ok.
I hear about not enough hours in one day, I felt guilty taking a long relaxing walk yesterday with the dog.

There was an accident on the 101 below Cesar Chavez just this morning that tied up traffic pretty bad.

    Glad to hear you're alright.

    Oooooh... That's awesome!

The pictures, not the 101 accident. 101 is a death trap. When I lived in the Bay Area, I avoided 101 whenever possible.

Congratulations on the photos, Sam! I love your food photography.

And glad to hear you are ok. Hope you are recovering quickly - 101 is terrible!

Sam, I'm glad to hear you're okay, too. Congratulations on getting your photos published. The process behind making salumi is ideal as a photo subject. I hope your deadline is passed and met, so you can spend more time cooking, eating, and writing.

Congratulations about the photos! Always nice to receive that kind of pat on the back.

And sorry about the accident...after many years of commuting in that area (and knowing how nasty the 101 can be), I sympathize.

Sam, congrats. As for the 101 incident, good to hear you're fine. Hope the car is as well. If you were in that sexy little black machine, people should definitely notice you. I know I did. May I suggest commuting on caltrain? It has its warts and all, but at least it's safe.

Excellent news you must be so excited. Congrats. Question for you? I would like to subscribe to an American Food Magazine but not sure which one would be the best, do you have any suggestions? Cheers Amelita

thanks everyone for all the kind congratulations, I wont answer every one individually but it means a lot to have so much encouragemnet, thanks.

I had never actually seen this magazine before and it does seem interesting.

It's not really my 'style', but if I look beyond its image I can see it has some good stuff to offer - I have to study further

About the being rear ended - i agree - it shook me up, gave me a wicked headache, stopped me from going out with my friends that evening and it is a PAIN IN THE ARSE to sort out - I already wasted hours last week - and I am the innocent victim.

I had to put it in the shop and get the train to work - i spent the whole journey doing the math of how much money I would save if I got rid of my car. Now I am seriously considering it, even though it is the cutest car in the world and i love it more than I should.

[Cedichou - it's silver not black, but sexy, you are remembering correctly - thanks for the train idea]

    mum - I have a spare copy

squishy - i think Gourmet is my favourite, but I am not sure that means it is the best, it really depends what you are looking for

Woot woot! That's just nearly about the coolest thing ever. Can hardly believe it's your first time being published though. Your "eye" is spot on, surely this is just the beginning. Cheers,

    Biggles
