I recently discovered Chowhound. It's perfect for me. It host's the newsgroup I have always wanted but didnt know existed, until now. I went there to ask advice about the best place for a quick but good brunch in Yountville. Some people recommended fancy restauraunts, but we didn't have time for that. Another suggested takeout, but we wanted to stop for at least a short break. The Chowhound who suggested Gordon's, hit the nail right on the head.
There is easy parking, a quick turnaround so seats become available regularly, ordering is done from a counter so no need to wait for serving staff. Healthful sounding choices are written on large blackboards. We had missed breakfast, but lunch choices included a variety of salads, sandwiches, soup and a tart. Everything seemed to be home cooked and portions were generous. My spinach, bacon and egg salad was delicious with just enough dressing to make it glisten without drowning it. We were in and out within about 30 minutes, satisfied and our stomachs lined ready for the afternoon of wine tasting ahead...
