Becks & Posh
are joining together with other food bloggers all over the globe to try and make a small difference in the world. I contacted many of our favourite food vendors in the Bay Area and asked if they would like to help out by donating gifts which I could raffle. I was overwhelmed by their kind responses and have been able to put together a wonderful package of prizes specified which you all have an opportunity to win, just by making a small donation to a very worthwhile cause.

We have chosen to raise money for Unicef. The funds will be specifically earmarked for the earthquake victims in Northern India and Pakistan. We will not be handling the money ourselves. All of your donations will go directly to Unicef.

I realised that two of the prizes are only attractive to residents of the Bay Area, so I added an extra prize package of fantastic food books to encourage International donations too. The Book prize is shippable anywhere in the world, whereas the other two non-transferable prizes should only be entered for by Bay Area residents who will be able to enjoy them in person.

Becks & Posh is a labour of love which I hope my many readers appreciate. I don't make any money from it at all, and so far we have kept the site free of advertising. On an almost daily basis over the last year I would like to think that the information we share here has not only entertained our audience but has also given recipe inspiration, helped people find new restaurants to try and allowed people to discover fantastic new foods and vendors not only in the Bay Area, but all over the world. Please show your appreciation for everything we have shared, by making a donation to the worthwhile cause we are supporting.

How to enter: For each $5 you donate here, you can choose, if you like, to enter the draw for a prize. VERY IMPORTANT: Please specify which prize or prizes you would like to have the chance to win in the COMMENTS section when you make your actual donation. For example, you could donate $25 and specify Hungry bay Hopper x 3, Ferry Building Bonanza x 2. Then you would have three chances to win Prize 1 and 2 chances to win Prize 3. Or maybe you want to pin all your hopes on the book set. In that case you could specify Food Books from the Bay x 1 for a $5 donation, or x10 for a $50 donation, for example. If you donate a larger amount than $5, say you pledge $100 and just state one prize, ie Bay Area Hopper, then you will be given 20 entries into that particular draw. Please let me know in the comments section here if you have any questions. Sorry - I know it sounds a bit complicated. Donations will be accepted until December 23rd and Winners will be announched on January 1st at Chez Pim.

Over the Next 3 days I will be describing each of the three prizes packages in more detail, explaining why I asked these sponsors to be my fund raising partners and detailing why I think they represent some of the best food experiences you can find in the Bay area.

Thank you, everybody, for your kind support,

Archive Alert! On this date in 2004 we visited Firefly.

You've outdone yourself, Sam! Those prize packages are absolutely fabulous. And (at least to this former graphic designer) the logo collage is a gorgeous addition to your post. Three big cheers for all the effort you put into this event. (And I sure hope I win the books. : )

What a wonderful idea. I'm kicking myself for not knowing about it in advance -- I would like to have come up with something to add to the mix.

Hey, me again -- I read Pim's annoucement earlier and discovered that it's not too late to join in! (The more the merrier for others who want to add to the booty as well.) I'll be putting my own post up shortly, though it's nothing nearly as amazing as your spread!

Brett - i hope people are bidding for your great prize too.

Ced - thank you for your efforts.

Mrs D - I am glad you are on board now too. SOrry - I have been remiss wiith my comment replies - I only just managed to get the posts out before zooming off to work, et alone answer all the comments.

Yo will have to join Food Blog Scoo; or at least put it in your RSS feed reader - most of the things happening in the food blogosphere pass through there.

Actually, I've got food blog S'cool on my RSS reader. I just must have missed the post about this! (Also, there's just so much going on... I'm starting to wonder if any other food bloggers ever sleep!)

i agree - i took off a bit more than I could chew with this one. I know I make it look so simple, but believe me, this has been more hard work than I can handle. I haven't spoken to poor fred in days whilst I have been getting this together.

If we were married I am sure he'd divorce me right now.

Sam, you are a rock star. This is incredible.

Because it was a little late in coming, I wanted to let everyone know that Chronicle Books has made a wonderful cookbook and recipe card deck donation for the raffle. People can read more about it here
