San Francisco Chowhound Picnic 18

There is no known recipe link for this photograph at this time. I believe it was a toasted egg sandwich. But I think I heard a whisper that it contained truffles, so it wan't just any egg sandwich. You wouldn't expect just any old egg sandwich from a Chowhounder anyway.

That's one of mine again. Typical egg salad--hard-boiled eggs, mayo, salt, and pepper--but with added sauteed chanterelles and truffle oil on toasted white bread. It was based on a sandwich I had at Desiree in the Presidio. At home I make this sandwich and eat it right away, but unfortunately the truffle and mushroom essences dissipated by the time these were served at the picnic.

thanks for commenting! I couldn't find any info on the chowhound boards. Sound's delicious. We love egg sandwiches in our household so maybe I'll try this slightly decadent variation out next time we have them.
