Today I received a Weightwatchers STAR for having lost 10lbs. Yay! I have only lost half a pound over each of the past two weeks, but it is still a step in the right direction. And it is refreshing to know, that you can still lose weight, even when you have a weak moment and end up devouring half a bucket of raw Mexican Cookie dough.
Archive Alert! Around this time last year at the Farmers Market and multi-coloured carrots. |

It looks like cikoria to me. I don't know if they are called like that in English. Could be asparagus as well but that is toooo simple...
ReplyDeleteLooks like puntarella, a type of chicory. Nice photo!
ReplyDeleteDon't eat it Sam! Somebody's messing with you. I'm afraid you may have bought a body snatcher.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Probably lame and wrong, but I'm going with artichoke. Something about the leaves...
ReplyDeleteA germinated onion or potato? ;-) just kidding! A zucchini flower ready to bloom?
ReplyDeletecould be asparagus - not an artichoke I think - ours don't do central budding stalks like that
ReplyDeletecould also be an allium of some kind - garlic or chive or onion
I'm with ilva and owen: asparagus. If it is, you have a great lens.
ReplyDeleteooh ooh I know I know!
ReplyDeleteIt's the one out of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, you know the one where Donald Sutherland starts pointing and goes "uuurrrrrrrrrrrrhggggggggg".
Dang, i really ought to read the comments before I post...cookie got there first...or someone bearing a remarkable resemblance to cookie...uuuuurrrrrrggggghhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteThe individual shoots look like deformed asparagus, or strange zucchini. Whatever it is, it looks damn scary. Gorgeous photo, whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteI say like Owen...Asparagus, the green italian ones.
ReplyDeleteWhatever:
What a lovely picture Sam!
beautiful! so jealous of your photography...
ReplyDeleteit looks like asparagus to me, too.
but you know, if it's something like a weird relative of a plain old potato or something...hey, that's awesome too.
hybrid asparagus
ReplyDeleteNo clue, but I wanted to say bienvenue back to blogging (admittedly I'm a few days late). BTW none of my friends remembers "Weekend Chocolates" alas...
ReplyDeletewalking tree onions?
ReplyDeletethat stalk looks awfully thistly, though
How many guesses do we get? How about Brussels Sprouts a a very early stage?
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S a vegetable?
ReplyDeletezucchini flowers about to bloom?
ReplyDeleteI'm the self-appointed okra expert here, and that's not okra. (I'll eat my hat if it is : ) ) If it has to be a vegetable, I'm for asparagus of some kind, but I like the other guesses better. What's cikoria? puntarella? and chicory (all I know about chicory is that it's used in fake coffee)
ReplyDeleteWILD ASPARAGUS.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic picture! I love your photography. What's your secret?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go with asparagus...that was my first impression on looking at it.
well they call them "puntarelle" in italy and i think they come form the cicory family, but i don't know what they are called in english!! we eat them in the winter months, sliced super fine with a lemon/olive oil/salt/pepper/mustard/anchovy dressing.yummmmm
ReplyDeleteSo many wrong guesses sandwiched between the correct answers.
ReplyDeleteHappy to have captured your imaginations.
You can read more about the Puntarelle here.
