The Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants, San Francisco, The Ferry Building

Fred and I love to visit the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants, sometimes, on a Sunday afternoon and try a glass or flight of wine from their interesting and ever-changing menu. The staff are really friendly and sometimes even give us a free taste of a wine we might be interested in. If you aren't into football, and aren't being coerced into attending a Superbowl party, it could be somewhere you could escape to today. Maybe the whole Ferry Building will be a little quieter than usual. Although it doesn't have a spectacular Bay view or any outside windows, it's still a great place to hang out, sample wine and buy a bottle or two...

On this particular, pink, occasion I treated myself to a glass of Billercart Salmon Brut whilst Fred enjoyed a glass of rose.

I totally agree, I just love spending an afternoon there though we almost always end up buying a lot of what we taste. We were even thinking of going today and see if it is easier to get a seat with the game on and everything.

  3. I would say "might see you there", but it's such a nice day - i think we are going to go to Stinson instead. Hopefully Superbowl will cause Stinson to be empty too.

  4. The rise of the wine bar is no surprise to Debbie Zachareas, a managing partner at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant and wine director for posh downtown eatery Bacar. Great food and wine are just part of the culture in San Francisco. The Ferry Building is a testament to that.Whatever you do if you are visiting SF get down to the Ferry Buildingto check out all the food. This is also a fine place to learn about and buy wine.
