    Unless you're in Scotland where they eat it with black pudding. I once asked a weaver in the Highlands about it and she described it as looking "like a wee rat" when it's cooked. Sort of put me off. I know you can order it through Mollie Stone's, here, though I'm not tempted. Thanks for the guessing gamr!

    So strange. Just two minutes ago I typed "grouse" to a friend as a joke for a "favorite holiday food" and was all smug that I'd come up with such a farce. Thought you were reading my mind for a moment.

    Yes, but the big question is still..."where can you get it here"? I love it, but have only ever had it in the UK.

    Oh, and shot in it...yes, that'a a bit of a negative, but inevitable it seems.

  4. Oops _ I should have metioned I am in the UK right now and I have already seen it on no less than two menus. It's apparently a very good grouse year, but this is the first time I have ever tried it. And I liked it.

  5. In our family, you get shamed for hitting a grouse anywhere but in the head with a rifle. I've NEVER seen it sold anywhere retail, unfortunately. And something strange - we actually use a metal detector on migratory birds to make sure no shot meets the diner.
