Killing Me With Caramel

Found Guilty: Fred & David Lebovitz

picture photograph buttery caramels from paris copyright of sam breach http://becksposhnosh.blogspot.com/
It's now 14 days since I had dinner with David Lebovitz. It's now 14 days since David let me reach into his box of goodies and pick out two of what he describes as the best caramels in the world. Caramels that even money can't buy. Caramels from some secret location in Paris. It's now 14 days since I let those sticky, buttery, ethereal caramels melt on my tongue. It's now 14 days since David handed me two more caramels to take home for Fred, who wasn't well. It's now 14 days since I am not sure I was entirely trusted by my friends to make the delivery. It's now 14 days since I put the caramels in the fridge for Fred to enjoy. It's now 14 days that those caramels have been staring down at me every time I open the fridge. It's now 14 days since I started slowly going crazy...

Come to think of it, DPaul ferreted one of ours away to take home for us to share later. I haven't seen it since. I may have to tackle him, pin him to the ground and fess up what became of that caramel. And if he did eat it, there will be hell to pay.

  6. A fortnight in the fridge? Damn, that is impressive restraint. They might, and I mean might, make it 14 hours in mine......

I confess: I still have one, too. I should probably eat it, but then it will be gone! What to do, what to do.

  14. Mum - not sure it is your kind of caramel!

sean - let me know the outcome on that one!

    catherine. If I can't you can't.

    emily - my pleasure.

Kalyn - he wont even read my blog to find out the attention they are getting!

Barbara - I have been doing exactly as you say. Promise.

MW - I do love him, it's true.

Bron - it's not me you need to look after them for - have a word with Fred.

Melissa - somewhere on David's blog there is a post about saving special thing for too long and then having them spoil. I can't remember exactly where. Maybe he can point us to it - it might be a warning to caramels everywhere.

Amy - you have a point - he confessed he hasnt read my blog

Beccy - you want my car, you want my caramels, what next? My man?

    WMM - NO!

kevin - I can beat you on that - the wine had to wait about 12 years. Ask my mum and my sister about that little escapade.

Kristen - I'll see what he says after dinner!

If those are the caramels I think they are (Henri Le Roux?) then I am in AWE of your restraint. They simply don't last around here. Sweetie or no sweetie, the caramels go to whomever gets to them first.

Law of the jungle, or something like that...

    Hands off, Béa!

Those are from Jacques Genin, and they truly are amazing. Like biting into pure, unfettered, extraordinary French butter and having it explode in your mouth. I would eat them now, my dear, since they ain't built to last. And I can't get you anymore for a long, l-o-o-n-g time.
